If you’ve decided to lease your next van, congratulations! You’re now close to being behind the wheel of a brand new van with the peace of mind that leasing brings with it.
If you’re a first time leaser, here are our top tips to ensure you get the best van and the best deal!
Plan ahead
Some vehicles have long lead times so if you want a van ‘now’ make sure you tell our team so they can advise on which makes and models are available for quick delivery. Equally if you can be patient and your dream van has a long lead time, don’t settle for something you don’t really want. Planning ahead is key here.
Set your budget
Know what you want to spend each month. It’s important to factor in the arrangement fees and upfront costs and of course work out what you can afford monthly. By starting with setting your budget, you’ll be able to narrow down the choice of van.
Have a think about how long you want your van for
You will be given the option of a 2, 3, or 4 year lease and it’s worth spending a bit of time considering what is right for you. Some people like a shorter lease term so that they can change their vans more frequently. Others like the security of a longer lease and the ability to budget for the medium term. This is purely a personal decision and our team can quote on various options for you.
Be realistic about mileage
The deal will be better if you underestimate your annual mileage BUT if you do this you will end up in an excess mileage bill at the end of the term. Read more about mileage here
Don’t forget about insurance
Your insurance will be on top of your monthly costings so it’s important to budget for them. Our tip is to shop around for the best insurance on the vans you’re interested in and then compare ‘like for like.’ Do this research before you sign your leasing contract however – you don’t want to be shocked by a huge insurance quote!
Check out fuel consumption
Fuel is what it is, of course, but do some research into your preferred vehicles fuel consumption and work out if the van of your dreams is going to fit in with your monthly budget.
Be flexible!
You may have a clear idea in your mind of the make and model you want to lease, and of course that’s fine, but by being a little flexible you might get an incredible deal, or a quicker delivery.
